2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Identity Information: Full name, date of birth, email address, phone number, home address, and Social Insurance Number (SIN) — collected only for the purpose of opening regulated investment accounts.
  • Financial Information: Income, net worth, liquid assets, employment status, debt balances, investment account balances, monthly cash flow data, and retirement planning inputs.
  • Account Credentials (via Plaid): When you connect your bank or investment accounts, we use Plaid Inc. to retrieve read-only account data. We never see or store your banking username or password.
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, actions taken within the application, and session information for security and service improvement purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to:

  • Provide personalized financial planning, debt analysis, investment projections, and retirement planning tools
  • Open and administer segregated fund accounts with Canada Life
  • Process fund transfer requests and account changes
  • Send account status updates, DocuSign documents, and important financial notifications
  • Comply with applicable Canadian regulatory requirements (FINTRAC, KYC/AML obligations)
  • Improve and secure the platform

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Plaid Integration & Bank Account Data

The Wealth Office uses Plaid Inc. to enable secure, read-only connections to your Canadian bank and investment accounts. When you choose to connect an account:

  • You will be redirected to Plaid Link, a secure interface operated by Plaid
  • Your banking credentials are entered directly into Plaid's interface — we never receive or store them
  • Plaid provides us with read-only access to account balances, transaction history, and account identifiers
  • Data retrieved via Plaid is used exclusively to populate your financial planning tools within this application
  • Plaid access tokens (the credentials that authorize data retrieval) are stored encrypted and are never exposed in the application interface
  • You may revoke Plaid access at any time from your account settings or by contacting us directly

Plaid's own privacy policy is available at plaid.com/legal.

5. Data Storage & Security

  • All data is stored on the Base44 platform, which uses industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2 or higher)
  • The application is served exclusively over HTTPS
  • Access to the platform requires multi-factor authentication (email-based OTP verification)
  • Access to client data is restricted by role-based access control — only the authorized advisor and the client themselves can view their records
  • We do not store SIN numbers beyond what is required to complete account-opening regulatory obligations

6. Your Rights Under PIPEDA

As a Canadian resident, you have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), including:

  • Right of Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Right to Correction: You may request that inaccurate information be corrected
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw consent for collection and use of your personal information, subject to legal and contractual restrictions

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@mywealthoffice.com.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal and financial information for as long as necessary to provide services and comply with Canadian regulatory requirements. Investment account records are retained for a minimum of 7 years in accordance with securities regulations. You may request deletion of non-regulated data by contacting us directly.
